In 2015 we kept hearing from domestic workers: we need benefits. Stories of workers who had to choose between staying home when they were sick or putting food on the table at night. The constant stress of having no safety net to rely on. No access to benefits.
So, we decided to build a solution.
Alia was created for domestic workers, and has been designed first for house cleaners, who are some of the most difficult workers to provide access to benefits to. Most house cleaners have many clients, so Alia allows for many contributors. Most clients vary in how much cleaning service they need, so Alia contributions are prorated. Most house cleaners’ client lists change as new clients are added and old clients discontinue service, so Alia Benefits are attached to the worker, not the job, making them truly portable.
